Force OOM Use

Option implemented as of version 1.3.26 (Nov. 17, 2008)

What is OOM?

OOM stands for Outlook Object Model which is a programmatic interface to Outlook itself for dealing with Outlook data.

One of the primary drawbacks to using OOM for reading large amounts of Outlook data is that it is extremely slow however in some cases, it is the only viable option.

By default, CGX utilizes the Microsoft MAPI sub-system for reading Outlook/Exchange data which is orders of magnitude faster. However, if any field selected for export is reported as having a MAPI error (fields are highlighted in red on the field mapping screen), CGX automatically reverts to using OOM.

In some extremely isolated cases and for reasons unknown, it has been reported that the MAPI system returns less records than expected when using Exchange. For this reason, the option to force the use of OOM has been added as a user selected option which in the rare cases that this issue has been reported, using OOM resolves the problem.

The "Force OOM Use" option is selected via the CGX Menu under Tools and is an on/off option. The state of this option persists until explicitly changed. When this option is active, a check mark will be visible beside the menu option.
