General Defaults
Universal ContactGenie default settings used by CGX can be modified either permanently or for the current session only:
(1) - FILE LOCATIONS
Indicates the location of the of the following files:
| • | Template Database |
| • | Input Data Files (used for importing only - not applicable in CGX) |
| • | Output Data Files |
| • | Log Files |
If changing the location of the template database file, CGX will check to see if a template database exists in the new location. If none is found, a new one is automatically created. If the objective is to move your existing template database to a new location, then copy the file to the new location prior to changing the default location. If an existing template is found, it will be opened and become active immediately as soon as either the "session" or "permanent" settings are updated.
The default location will be "C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserID\Application Data\ContactGenie\OutData (or Logs etc) until changed to something else as shown below (where <C:> represents the Windows drive which may differ on your system).
(2) - EXCHANGE GLOBAL ADDRESS LIST NAMES
Shows the default address list names required for exporting the MS Exchange Global Address (GAL):

(3) - LANGUAGE/FIELD NAMES
Indicates the default Field Name DisplayAs/Output settings that will be used whenever a new export template is being created (see Changing Display/Export Languages)
(4) - COMPANY NAME TRANSPOSITION RULES
Default settings for Company Name Transposition Rules (see Misc Options) which are applicable depending on whether or not the primary process is Import/Export/Bi-Directional Processing.
Transpose Add
- not applicable for CGX
Transpose Update
- not applicable for CGX
Transpose Export
- default setting used whenever a new Export Template is created. Results in the company names for all selected output records being transposed according to the selected option prior to any records being exported. If the export processing option is <Update> and the Company Name is used as a key field anywhere for Selection, Duplicates or Updates, then the value used will be the "transposed" value and not what appears within Outlook.
(5) - FAX NUMBER PREFIX IDENTIFICATION USE
For detailed information see Misc Options. These settings will be used as the default whenever a new Export Template is created.
(6) - UPDATE SESSION
Any changes made will only apply to the current running session of the program and will revert back to the original defaults the next time the program is run.
(7) - UPDATE PERMANENTLY
Default settings will apply to both the current session as well as applying permanent changes which will be applicable the next time the program is run.
(8) - EXIT NO CHANGE
Ignores any changes that may have been made to the default settings.
