Product Registration

To remove any restrictions contained within any of the ContactGenie products, you must purchase a product registration key.

 

Once you complete the simple and secure online purchase process, you will be sent an email that contains your product registration information. To enter registration information into any ContactGenie product, launch the program and click the Register menu option (found under the HELP menu option).

 

Once the product is registered, you will also be required to "activate" the product within a preset number of days. Failure to "activate" the product with the registration number supplied will cause the program not to function beyond requesting you to complete the activation process. See Activation/Deactivation for more details.

 

When entering your product registration key, you must enter both the Name and Registration Key values exactly as they were sent to you. For editions that are system specific - the System ID (hardware ID) must match that used when the purchase was made. If the product was purchased by another party in your organization and they used their email address, make sure that they send you a copy of all information received. Also, it will be that email address that will receive any information related to updates/upgrades etc so you may want to stress that they use YOUR email address at the time of purchase. Alternatively, please contact us with a change of email address for future updates (you will require the purchase reference number to validate the change and the originating purchaser will be notified of the change).

 

To minimize the potential for errors, it is recommended that you copy and paste both the license name and registration key into the fields presented in the Product Registration window. Ensure that you are not including any extraneous characters when you "copy and paste".

 

The registration screen is accessible from the main menu bar and displays this screen:

ContactGenie products can be installed on any machine unless specifically stated otherwise. For hardware specific licenses, the hardware ID (H/W ID) must match that used at the time the license was purchased or the registration will fail.

 

For products that also require "Activation", the license cannot be updated unless the product is first "de-activated" from this system - see Activation/Deactivation.

 

The program remains "registered" (and activated) even if un-installed. The only times you would need to re-enter a registration key would be as follows:

 

1.The system has been reformatted
2.The registry entries for the program have been altered or removed
3.A new registration key is being entered for upgrades etc

 

If you are having problems entering the registration key that you received, please check the following:

 

Your product registration email message indicates which version of the ContactGenie product in question the registration key unlocks. Please make sure the version you are running matches accordingly. For example, you cannot unlock version 1.5 of with a version 2.0 registration key (you must download and install version 2.0 first). You can always download the latest version of the software from http://www.contactgenie.com.
If an error appears indicating the registration information is invalid, please ensure that it's being entered exactly as it appears in your registration email message. The best to do so is to copy and paste the registration data into the appropriate fields within the ContactGenie product registration window. Highlight the registration data in your email client and right-click to copy; right-click again in the product registration window fields to paste.
Some editions of the product are "HARDWARE DEPENDANT" and require the SYS-ID to be entered when purchasing the registration key. You MUST install the CG product first to locate the SYSID information (displayed in both the REGISTRATION and ABOUT screens under the Help menu option) prior to making the purchase. Supplying an invalid System ID will result in a registration key that will not work.
If you receive an error indicating that the registration key entered is expired (or is for the wrong product version), you may need to either upgrade your registration key to a newer version, or downgrade your version of your ContactGenie product to a previous version. Keys are generally good across major product versions (e.g. a version 1.x will unlock any version 1.x product installation, but will not unlock a version 2.x product installation).
