Setting Default Options

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

There are a variety of global options that are used during the import/export process. The default settings are shown below (default folder locations will be system dependant):

DefaultOpts

#1 - Default folders

These are the default locations where CQP saves any log files as well as the "Port" series template database. While the location of these files can be changed, there should be no need for it with CQP.

#2 - Exch GAL Folder Names

These are the default names used in the AddressBook for the GAL User / Contact / Group address lists. The default names vary based on regional language settings or if specifically changed. These names will be used whenever information for GAL AddressLists is required.

For Exchange configurations that do not have standard AddressLists for <All Users>, <All Contacts> and/or <All Groups> (i.e. Hosted Exchange accounts), the value of <N/A> (without the brackets) should be entered. As long as the default is set to N/A, then CMP will not check to see if the applicable AddressLists exists and will be deemed to be unavailable.

In all other cases, you must be online and connected to the Exchange server before changing the default name for a given AddressList.

#3 - Standardization options

A default format can be specified for each of the three fields that will be applied when a contact is updated with applicable fields or exported (one or more fields that impact each of the fields must be selected for import or export - this is not a universal update for all contacts (see ContactGenie Toolkit - http://www.contactgenie.com that does provide that functionality):

FullName

FullName Standardization which was available in the CQP version 1.x, is no longer available in version 2.0. The <FullName> field will be formatted the same as it would be via the Outlook UI. The one key difference with mapping to the fullname field is that CQP utilizaes it's own parsing process to extract the various name components from which the FullName field is rebuilt.

FileAs

FileAsOpts

EmailDisplayAs

EmailDispAsOpts

Default Settings & Operation

Default formats for:

FileAs:                Last, First Middle
EmailDisplayAs: First Last (Email)

CQP does not use any default Outlook settings. All values are updated completely independent of Outlook. If you wish to have a particular format used to correspond to a setting in Outlook, it must be correctly set here prior to any data being imported.

For importing, if a value is mapped directly to either the FileAs or EmailDisplayAs, no standardization will take occur. The value found in the input data source will be used enabling you to use any format not included in the above options.

#4 - Fax number normalization

This provides the option to add(import)/remove(export) a prefix to fax phone numbers. Fax prefixes removed on export do not affect the exported contact items.

#5 - CompanyName normalization

Provides the option to standardize company names that start/end with the words The, Le, La & El. For example, a company name of "The Company" would be reversed to "Company, The".

#6 - Body (Notes) field import/export options

This determines what action will be taken if data is imported/exported to the contact Body (Notes) field.

#7 - Birthday/Anniversary Calendar options

These options determine whether or not Birthday and Anniversary dates imported will be added to the calendar on import (unless set, the dates will not be added). A universal Anniversary subject can be applied.
