Before Starting

Be sure that you have a current backup of your Outlook data purely for precautionary purposes. You should always have a current backup regardless but it becomes even more important when you plan on applying any kind of bulk updates to your data.

CG ToolKit does not write anything to contact folders or otherwise manipulate any portion of a PST file/Exchange folder at any time/for any reason UNTIL you select to actually APPLY the updates. The Outlook data is accessed only in READ ONLY mode at any other time.

Once updates are applied, there is no reversal process in the current version of CG ToolKit.

You should also review the information regarding Outlook field errors under <Field Usage Summary> and Outlook Integration/Issues which describe items outside the control of CG Toolkit.

While not a requirement, it is recommended that Outlook be closed while running CG ToolKit to avoid any potential usage conflicts during processing.

On Startup

The following is a summary of the required and optional steps for any CG ToolKit function:

1.Review the default field name display and language options that will be used for the selected folder
2.Select a contact folder. Can be from any folder within the current default Outlook profile or from any standalone PST file

3.Review the Message Class that will be used for processing any updates. The default will be the current default assigned to the selected folder.

4.Set any desired filter criteria to narrow the contacts to which updates will be applied. This filter will always be a subset of the contacts with the selected message class
