ContactGenie Duplicate Contact Manager (DCM) works on the basis that a single contact folder is designated as the <Primary Contact Folder> and for each duplicate set of contacts, one contact is designated as the <Primary Contact> which is one that will be kept based on the criteria established.
Primary Contact Folder
Before the DCM process can begin, a single contact folder must be selected. This initial folder selection becomes the <Primary Contact Folder>. When only one contact folder is being scanned for duplicates, the has no relevance.
When multiple folders are selected for scanning, the <Primary Contact Folder> can be used as one of the criteria for designating <Primary Contacts> which are the contact items that do <NOT> get deleted/moved. Basically, you can establish that a contact located in the <Primary Folder> never gets deleted moved if duplicates are found in other folders.
Primary Contact
Within any given set of duplicates, one contact is designated as the <Primary Contact> based on the options selected. It is this contact item that will retained (the <keep> option) and all others will be either deleted/moved. During preview mode, the <keep> setting for any contact can be changed essentially allowing you to delete/move <all> contacts in the set or alternatively, <keep> all contacts and deleting/moving none within a given <duplicate set>.
