A duplicate in ContactGenie Duplicate Contact Manager is defined as any two contacts having the identical values for the fields selected.
Each field in the duplicate field set must be <identical> in every respect (an extra space in the wrong place will trigger a difference).
Text/Keyword Fields (Blank/Empty versus Null Value)
When viewing contact records, it is impossible to determine whether or not a field actually has no value (is blank/empty) or contains a <Null> value. Both are visually represented the same way, as a blank field, but must be treated differently and are not considered to be the same.
<DCM> normalizes all text fields that are found to be blank/empty or contain a <Null> value. For the purposes of duplicate comparison are treated as equal (the actual Outlook value is never changed).
The <Notes> (internal field name: <Body>) is not a field that can be used as a duplicate comparison field.
DateTime Fields
All date fields are normalized to the localized <Short Date> format (mm/dd/yyyy, dd/mm/yyyy etc). Time values in Outlook DateTime fields are not used in the duplicate comparison of contact items (the actual Outlook datetime value is never changed).
